Choosing the Right Coach Size for a China Tour Group
Pick capacity from confirmed passengers plus international luggage and elder boarding needs—not from a round number in the family WeChat group. A comfortable forward-facing coach for sightseeing is a different tool than a tight van for a quick airport hop.
Count people, bags, and mobility together
Include grandparents, children, and any local relatives joining mid-day. Then add space for large suitcases on arrival day and shopping bags on departure day.
Note wheelchairs or walkers. Easy boarding height and grab rails matter more for multi-gen China family tours than squeezing to the last listed seat.
Sprinter and executive vans (about 8–14)
Best for small executive visitor groups, VIP university tours, or split airport waves when flights land hours apart. Limits appear quickly with full international luggage.
Minibuses (about 15–28)
Strong for mid-size family day trips and urban loops when luggage is light. Confirm forward-facing seats and whether a microphone helps the group leader make WeChat-announced timing updates onboard.
Full coaches (about 30–56)
Ideal for reunion-scale China tour groups, multi-attraction days, and wedding-adjacent family shuttles where everyone should stay on one schedule. Coaches need curb space—plan venue driveway limits in advance.
A simple sizing rule
Under 12 with light bags: Sprinter-class. 12–24 with day bags: minibus. 25+ or heavy luggage: coach. Split only when parking forbids a coach or itineraries diverge across the family.
